Program Goal: To continue the successful Pamoja Child Support Program, expanding to the Mukuru informal settlement in Nairobi. The program will supplement the nutritional needs and reduce the levels of malnutrition in preschool children within the settlement. The program will also transport and distribute unimix, hire cooks to properly prepare foods for the children, and monitor the childrens’ progress to ensure the reversal of malnutrition.
Expected Results: The program will supplement the nutritional needs and reduce the levels of malnutrition for children in the Mukuru informal settlement in Nairobi through the use of dietary supplements and staple foods. Good nutrition and proper development for a child from birth to seven years of age is crucial for success in school and later in life. The value of appropriate nutrition for children during those early years cannot be overemphasized.
